Curriculum for Excellence

At St Devenick’s Playgroup we follow the guidelines laid down by the Scottish Executive in the Curriculum for Excellence (CFE).

The CFE aims to ensure that all children and young people in Scotland develop the attributes, knowledge and skills they will need to flourish in life, learning and work.

It aims to develop four capacities, helping children to become:
  • successful learners
  • confident individuals
  • responsible citizens
  • effective contributors
As part of the CFE requirements, we maintain a Learning Journey for each child at Playgroup. This is a folder of observations and information about the child and their development, which is kept up to date by their key worker.  You are free to look at your child’s learning journey at any time, and we encourage you to do so.

Periodically, we hold a Curriculum Evening at Playgroup so that parents/carers can learn more about the CFE, what it means for your child, and how we follow it at St Devenick’s.
